Casa Mono

Presa ibérica de Casa Mono

There’s something inherently cool about Casa Mono‘s New York vibe.

The decor is luxurious. The menu is varied.

The upstairs cocktail lounge, with its mirrored ceiling and sofas, is très chic.

Casa Mono gives us good Foodings on all levels.

The restaurant:

Here’s the main eating area, located right inside the main door. It has large tables and lush fabrics on the chairs creating a more formal dining experience.

There are more casual eating spaces, too. They can be found near the wood-panelled bar towards the back. The subway-tiled walls and high-/low-top tables make for a laid-back vibe.

On nice days, the glass windows that flank the entire northern wall also open up, creating an indoor/outdoor dining experience.

And don’t forget to try the cocktail lounge! Upstairs you’ll find an extensive drinks list and a comfortable, sophisticated area for groups of all sizes.

What we ordered:

Burrata Artesana

Artisanal burrata

A friend recommended this to us and she was right! The cheese was mouthwatering. A bite of all the ingredients together (on the bread they provided – white or multigrain, your choice) was a definite success.

Tataki de atún rojo con matices tropicales y japoneses

casa-mono-tuna-tartar

Bluefin tuna tartar

The tuna was deliciously fresh and full of flavour. It melted in our mouths.

The ingredients they used to complement the fish were spot on: a tangy bed of marinated seaweed salad with crunchy fried onion and sweet coconut flakes on top.

Capón al curry con arroz basmati

Capon curry with basmati rice

We had just got back from Thailand and had a serious curry craving. This did not disappoint! Perfectly cooked, juicy capon (like a rooster) in a mild, rich sauce, topped with sweet coconut flakes and served alongside basmati rice with almonds and raisins.

Presa Iberica con puré de calabaza y salsa cantonesa

casa-mono-pork-pumpkin-sauce-2

Iberian pork shoulder with a pumpkin puree and Cantonese sauce

This dish was as tasty as it was beautiful. The Cantonese sauce was savoury, the pumpkin puree sweet, the pistachios crunchy and the meat tender and salty. A perfect combination.
